Chinese Foxglove, or Rehmannia glutinosa, is the botanical source associated with the Verbasnol™ active used in Zanna Foaming Wash.
The plant contains naturally occurring compounds including verbascoside, which has been widely investigated experimentally for antioxidant and anti-inflammatory biological activity.
But this is one ingredient where we think scientific honesty is particularly important. Much of the published research surrounding Rehmannia glutinosa and verbascoside is preclinical rather than large-scale human cosmetic research. General studies of a plant or one of its compounds also are not the same thing as a clinical trial of a particular branded cosmetic ingredient - or of Zanna Foaming Wash itself.
That does not make the science uninteresting. It simply means the claims should reflect the strength of the evidence.
Why we use it at Zanna
Verbasnol™ / Chinese Foxglove is one of the key botanical components in Zanna Foaming Wash, selected as part of a cleanser designed for breakout-prone skin where comfort, balance and avoiding unnecessary irritation matter.

- Publishing safeguard: supplier-approved clinical/technical substantiation for the exact Verbasnol™ grade should take precedence over general Rehmannia/verbascoside literature for product-specific efficacy claims.
